Chocolate is one of life's guilty pleasures. However, chocolate can make a huge mess when smeared on clothes and makes for difficult stain removal. But, we've got a few tricks up our sleeve - read on to find out how to remove chocolate stains with ease.
First and foremost, let the chocolate dry before you attempt to remove it. Hardened chocolate is easier to remove than melted chocolate. When dry, scrape the chocolate from the fabric with a blunt knife or spoon, using a lifting motion so as not to drive the chocolate deeper into the fabric fibres. Rinse the garment under cold, running water to drain out excess particles on the cloth.
Apply detergent or liquid stain remover to the stain and leave for 10 minutes. Then, launder stained fabric in the hottest water allowed for the fabric to remove the stain. If necessary, add a dose of colour-safe bleach to remove the 'dye' from the stain.
If the stain has not been removed when taken out of the machine, repeat the treatment and washing steps. Do not dry the garment if the stain is still present.
Remember, if the garment is dry clean only, point out and identify the stain to us so we can effectively remove it!
