Stain Alert : Remove Mildew Naturally

Firstly what is it? Its a tough harder when trying to treat something you have no idea about, mildew is a mold or fungus.

How do I remove it?
This seems more prevalent to the bachelor but leaving wet towels in a laundry basket or hamper, or even worst leaving a load of freshly washed clothing in the washer for a few days creates mildew and somewhat of a mouldy smell. Relax, it is easy enough to remove the mildew and smell, all two cups of white distilled vinegar to a hot wash. Wash clothing on usual cycle then wash again with usual detergent.

Product Alert: Cinderella Multi-Purpose Spray

Baby sitting five children over the weekend saw my house lookig more like a war zone than a stylish home. So with a spare hour inbetween dinner and showers, I reached for the Cinderella Multipurpose spray.

I hit the kitchen table a few squirts saw hand prints and the rest of dinner wiped off in seconds, all with a fresh minty smell.

The stainless steal fridge also had hand prints and grott all over it, not any more, again off in seconds.

I attached the plastic toys now as germs seem to be spreading quicker than anything in the months leading up to winter so with a squirt here and a squirt there they smelt and felt clean again.

I dont have to worry about the chemicals in this cleaner why? Because they are organic perfect when dealing with five little terrors running around the house!

So why not try it! Family friendly cleaning products are the way of the future! Check it out HERE!

Handy Hints: Clean your Iron!

Irons are great and necessary to keep your clothing nice and wrinkle-free. It's easy to think of an iron as the ultimate tool to ensure your clothing and you are looking your best, however don't forget that it needs to be cleaned occasionally. So to ensure you keep on looking your best and pressed I have compiled a few handy cleaning tips for your iron that are simple yet effective!

What You Need:
  Baking soda
  Water
Flexible spatula, sponge, or cleaning cloth
  Cleaning cloths
  Cotton swabs
  Distilled water
  Vinegar (optional)
1.            Dump out any old water from the reservoir tank of your iron. After making sure that the iron is off, unplugged, and cooled down, remove any old water from the tank. Removing the old water first will make sure that you don't accidentally dump any out while you are cleaning.
2.            Make a baking soda paste. Use 1 tablespoon of water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda, mixed together to make a paste.
3.            Apply the paste to the plate of your iron. Using a flexible plastic spatula, or a soft cloth or sponge, apply the paste mixture onto the plate of the iron. Be sure to pay extra attention to stained or dirty spots.
4.            Wipe the paste off of your iron. Use a clean damp cloth to wipe the paste off of the plate of your iron.
5.            Clean the steam holes on your iron. Use a cotton swab dipped in distilled water to clean out the steam holes on the front of your iron.
6.            Pour distilled water into the iron's tank. Using distilled water, fill the reservoir tank of your iron 1/4 to 1/3 of the way full.
7.            Turn on the iron. Plug in your iron and turn it to a high steam setting. Take a clean dry cleaning cloth and iron it with the iron to allow the steam to clean out the steam vents.
8.            Pour out any extra water. Turn off the iron and unplug it. When it has cooled down a little, pour out any of the remaining water in the tank. Place the iron on a cleaning cloth that will catch any dripping sediment that may come out of the iron as it fully cools down.
9.            Wipe the iron down one last time. After the iron is completely cool, use a fresh damp cleaning cloth to wipe down the plate of the iron one final time to remove any sediment residue.
10.        Inspect the cord. As a final step, inspect the cord of your iron for any fraying or exposed wires which would indicate a need for replacement or repair. A quick wipe down of the unplugged cord with a damp cleaning cloth can remove any dust or dirt from the cord.

Penny Pincher: Save Money by Being Green!

Simple ways to avoid the money hungry washer and dryer! Enjoy!
Go for Texture
Textured fabrics provide camouflage for dirt and stains much better than flat, shiny weaves. Saving on washing and drying!
Read the Label
Always read the care label before you make an apparel purchase. Does it require hand washing or hot water for cleaning. This all may save you a lot of your time in the long run time you can spend with family and friends instead of the laundry room.
Go for the Cold
Heating water for the washer takes a great deal of energy - about one-third of the energy expenditure per load. Use only cold water, preferably in a high-efficiency washer that opts for low water levels.
Choose the Right Detergent
Select a detergent that works well in cold water Bosistos laundry powder is eco friendly and will work well in cold water. If you are using a high-efficiency top or front-loading washer, be sure that you have an he detergent. Using regular detergent in one of these machines can result in oversudsing, which will actually leave your clothing less clean.
Use Less Detergent
Try using less than the recommended amount and boost the efficiency of any detergent by adding 1/2 cup of baking soda to every load.
Use the Air and Sun
Line dry or air dry clothing to eliminate the use of clothes dryers.

Laundry Tip: A Pen Exploded in my laundry!!!!!

Ok, dont panic, these just blue ink all over your beloved whites, this is not the time to loose your temper and blame your family for leaving a pen in thier pocket. Simply follow the below instructions and you will be a ink free of all your problems!

If the ink is ballpoint or washable marker, begin by treating the stains with rubbing or isopropyl alcohol this will pull out some of the ink. Place the ink stained clothing on top of a white towel or paper toweling. Working from the outside of the stain and using a cotton swab, blot the alcohol into the stain. The ink will be transferred to the toweling underneath. Keep moving the stain onto a clean towel area until the stain is gone. Then rinse the area very well with cold water.
You may need to repeat the treatment several times depending upon how much ink was transferred. Use the same method if the stain has already dried – just know that you’ll need to keep repeating the treatment.
If the ink is a permanent marker, bring the garment into elaundry!! Where our amazing staff will talk to you about considering dying the garment a dark color, putting an embellishment over the stain like a patch or ribbon or button trim or use the clothes as play or painting clothes.
Use rubbing alcohol to remove any ink remaining in your washer or dryer tub YES this is important and sometimes forgotten!!! Just use a white towel dampened with the alcohol to remove the ink. Rinse with a cloth dipped in water. Kindly talk to your family and pen stealer about removing all items before adding them into the laundry basket!

I hope these few handy hints will leave you and your clothing ink free and happy!
