Laundry Tips: Removing Fake Tan from Clothing

lovealwaystumblr

Summer and bronzed skin go hand in hand. And, if you're wary about the risk of skin damage, fake tan is a great way to get a healthy glow. However, fake tan has some drawbacks. Not only can it streak your body, but it can come off on your clothes.

In fact, Fake tan moisturizer is one of those stains that needs extra attention, as it has both colour and grease to contend with.

Firstly, turn the t-shirt inside out and work on removing the stain this way so that it can lift off rather than go through the fabric. Layer an absorbent cloth beneath the t-shirt and the stain to avoid transfer.

Gently dab the top of the stain with dry paper towels.

Mix together grease-fighting dish detergent with water and dab gently at the stain with a soft cloth dipped in the mixture. Don't soak the stain, but get it wet.

If the stain does not lift, add a pretreatment to the detergent mixture and let it sit on the stain.

Wash as usual, following all care instructions on the label. Do not dry the item until it is stain free or you will have a permanent stain.

Remember - wait at least 15 minutes after application before getting dressed. And just to be safe, wear old clothes that you will not worry about staining.
