Business News: Dancesport Competition

On the 20th of November, the Queensland Dancesport titles took place at West End. One of our esteemed tailors, Clint Wallace, attended the event and was blown away by the intensity and glamour. Read on to find out more about Clint's day.

"Wow what a day! Dancesport at its Queensland’s best.

The Queensland titles got off to an early start at 9am with the juniors aged from 6years old and continued to 11pm that day with the results of the seniors and open champion being awarded the top accolades.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was witnessing our very own Lauren Kavanaugh competing for the first time in the Open category for New Vogue. Lauren was partnered by Joshua on the day, and they produced an exciting 3rd place, competing against the Australian Champs of 4 years. Great effort for their first comp at this level.

On the day there was a buzz from the first time we entered into the Greek Club at West End. A very professional organised day for both the Dancesport stars and audience. There was enough sequins and glitter to light up any city all under one roof.

The excitement felt by all was brought about by the most spectacular choreography by the respected coaches of the competitors - they kept us all wanting more. These dancers are very committed to their sport in everyway. Most of the top dances train at least 4 – 6 times per week, with many travelling overseas to compete up to 5 times. Wow an expensive venture for them.

Lots of photos where taken on the day of many of the costumes and couples – A big thankyou to Irene for her photographic skills as it was hard to keep up with the pace of the dances at times.

The day just rolled on, one event after the other and I got to meet the committee and the marketing Manager, Greg Taylor, who both were very helpful with introducing myself to the top three competitors in Australia. After chatting to these fantastic talented people , they gave me a very clear education on both their commitment and dedication and also their passion for the sport. We talked Tails and Dresses and how they design them for their respected sport, what a fascinating insight.

I had an all round fantastic day with a brilliant outcome in a marketing sense, meeting lots of people, and exciting them with our very own services, such as the costume and cleaning elements we can surely help them with.

Since the 20th I have met some of the dancers I met on the day to talk about gowns and tails for the upcoming open titles at the Conrad Jupiter’s at Easter. An exciting journey now awaits both us the the dances."
