Laundry Tips: Tips for the CONSUMER to avoid drycleaning disaster

boyslikemargie

Dry cleaning disasters can happen. An article in Choice recently outlined how you can prevent your most valuable clothes being left high and dry. If you have ANY concerns about bringing your garments to see a dry cleaner, here are some helpful dry cleaning tips and tricks to follow.

Check the dry clean symbol on the care label. The symbols P and F indicate which solvents may or should only be used.

Photograph expensive formal or designer wear and advise your dry cleaner that you have done so.

Find out if the drycleaner is a member of the Drycleaning Institute of Australia (we are!) The DIA will advise you of its investigations and your options if the drycleaner you complained about is a member.

Identify the nature and position of stains, loose stitching or fasteners.

Point out concealed buttons, as a heat press may leave a shiny imprint on the fabric if they go unnoticed.

Remove belts and any other detachable accessories.

Use a specialist drycleaner for beading, sequins and garment decorations, and take notes of the discussion about the best way to clean your garment.

Keep original receipts of expensive garments and textiles - they are useful for any damages claim.

At elaundry, we guarantee to take responsbility. Our dry cleaners are required to redo any satisfactory work upon request. We love our laundry!
