Halloween (30th October) is only days away. Whether you enjoy the holiday or not, it's likely that children in your street will come knocking on your door demanding a tasty treat! Stock up on a few bags of lollies now, just in case.

If your kids are die-hard Halloween fans, we have found some cute, yet affordable craft items that the whole family can enjoy, to get into the spooky theme. Learn how to craft fairy wings out of clothes hangers, and decorate black cats out of clothes pegs here

At elaundry, we're concerned about the state of your clothes and your children's costumes once their tired legs have carried them from street to street in your neighbourhood. That includes mud, chocolate, bubble gum and soft drink! So we've compiled an easy-to-follow list of Halloween stain removal tips and tricks.

Bubble Gum

1. Place garment in plastic bag in freezer for several hours
2. Remove from freezer, and scrape off gum with dull knife while still frozen/hard. If it doesn't come off, refreeze and try again.
3. When all gum residue has been removed, treat the spot with equal mixture of dishwashing liquid & distilled vinegar. Rub in gently and then wash the garment following all labelled care instructions
4. If the garment is dry clean only, use the freezing technique to remove the gum then bring the stained garment to us!

Chocolate

1. Remove as much chocolate as possible with a dull knife
2. Rinse the stain thoroughly with cold water, then rub dishwashing liquid into stain and let stand for 5 minutes
3. Soak stained area in cold water for 10-15 minutes or until stain is loosened. Every 3-5 minutes, rub the stained area
4. Wash garment as usual with strong detergent
5. If the garment is dry clean only, bring the garment to us as soon as possible!)

Face Paint

1. Treat the oily component of the stain with a pre-treating stain remover (these can be found in supermarkets)
2. Scrub area lightly with a heavy-duty liquid detergent then rinse in hot water
3. Wash garment in hottest water suitable for fabric to remove the dye in the stain
4. If the garment is dry clean only, identify the stain when you visit us and we can handle the rest!

Mud

1. Let mud dry then shake out excess dirt before treating
2. Soak the stained area in cold water using liquid detergent for 30 minutes, agitating ocassionally
3. Launder in warm - not hot (hot water will cook the stain and make it harder to remove) - water with laundry detergent. If stains remain, repeat steps 2 & 3.
4. If you have doubts, let elaundry handle the stain!
